Birmingham City Schools is a public school district in Birmingham, Alabama, serving more than 19,000 students across 43 schools—ranging from elementary and K–8 campuses to middle and high schools, as well as an alternative program, a newcomer center, and a K–12 virtual school. The district’s mission is to guide all students to achieve excellence in a safe, secure, and nurturing environment, while building pathways to college and career success. Birmingham City Schools’ 2024–2029 strategic plan reflects a commitment to community input and equitable outcomes—aligning priorities, resources, and supports so every student is prepared to thrive in a global society.
